Getting the Most Out of Your MBA Membership

If you are reading this, you must be one of our valued Missouri Broadcasters Association members. That means a lot of things. It means that you are a vital part of your community. It means that you work hard every day to bring news, entertainment, and other important messages to the public.

And it means that we, here at the MBA, are incredibly dedicated to supporting your success.

For us, local broadcasting isn’t just a way that some people in Missouri bring home the bacon. It’s a true service that provides all the citizens across the state with something you just can’t put a price on. And in order to help you provide that to your community, we offer you a variety of services as part of your membership.

The MBA is made up of people that have been where you are – we know exactly how crazy the broadcasting world can get, and how easy it is to get buried under the to-dos, reminders, emails, and more, that you have to sift through every day.

It’s pretty easy to forget everything that an association can offer to your team, when that team is busy making your organization proud.

So we’re introducing a new series of blog posts on our website. Twice a month, you’ll get a short and sweet reminder right here of one of our many services. We’ll keep it easy to skim through so that you can get back to your busy day. Subscribe to the RSS feed if you’d like to stay on top of the posts, or follow us on Twitter @MOBroadcasters, or on our Facebook page, Missouri Broadcasters Association. There you’ll find regular links to blog posts, as well as other content designed to make your day easier – and maybe a little more fun, too.

Be on the lookout in early November for the first post in this series! And before you go, check out a couple of quick tips from our Director of Member Services, Terry Harper, on how to get the most out of your MBA membership:

Spend some time getting familiar with our website. You can find legal resources, event calendars, newsletters, information on broadcasting regulations, and a whole lot more. We’re in the process of making the website even easier to navigate – but the information is already here. You can search for any topic and find everything we’ve ever posted about it in seconds.

Let us help you promote your job openings! You don’t have to do anything special – just email us your job ad and give us a way for interested applicants to contact you. We post these on our website, and often promote job openings on our social media platforms. We also send them out in our weekly newsletter to all the General Managers at MBA member stations. If you’d rather find talent to reach out to, you can also check out the Talent Farm – this is a database of students that attended our Radio Talent Institute, where they were immersed in an intense 10-day radio education program. These are the best of the best!

Take advantage of our free training sessions, webinars, and other opportunities. Training is an essential – and expensive! – investment for all broadcast stations. Often, we offer training at no cost to you, or at heavily discounted prices, that can take the place of pricier options. Did you know that we offer free online Anti-Harassment training (something many companies are required to provide to their employees)? What about training in customer service, business finance, or risk management? There are even ways to create a custom course through our online resources for your team. And that’s in addition to regular webinars, live training, and other events – again, most of these are free or heavily discounted.

If you do subscribe to the blog, or follow us on social media, you’ll see other content popping up here and there – including an upcoming interview with one of our MBA Hall of Fame inductees, and some behind-the-scenes peeks at what we do here to support you.

We’d love to connect with you in your digital space as well. Find us online and get in touch!
