Internship Support Program

As a steward of broadcast standards and practices, the Missouri Broadcasters Association (MBA) knows the importance of training to be competent and confident when entering the work force. Experience has become an essential element for the successful job seeker as employers are increasingly requiring applicants to have demonstrated ability. The Missouri Broadcasters Association Foundation has developed a program designed to assist students in attaining on-the-job training as a part of their higher education.

The following information contains application criteria as well as an outline for the selection process.

Criteria
  1. Internship opportunity limited to Missouri Broadcasters Association member stations.
  2. Applicant must be a Junior or Senior, currently attending a Missouri college or university.
  3. Applicant must be enrolled in broadcast or related curriculum that provides training and expertise applicable to a broadcast operation.
  4. Applicant must receive college credit for internship. The ratio of work hours to credit hours received shall be at least 40 to 1.
  5. Applicant must obtain approval from the supervising faculty member and the MBA member station prior to application.
  6. Applicant must be supervised by a faculty member.
Selection Process & Award

The Internship Committee of the MBA will review all applications and notify all applicants of the committee's decision. Recipients will receive notification of their acceptance no later than August 1st for fall internships, December 15th for spring internships and May 1st for summer internships.

Upon completion of the internship, recipients will provide the Internship Committee with a written report detailing their work experience and what skills they have learned. Upon receipt if the written report, interns within the program will receive $250 for each credit hour earned up to a maximum $1,000. No payments will be made by the MBA prior to the receipt of the written report.

Application Process

The applicant must provide a packer, which contains the following:
  1. The completed MBA internship application.
  2. A letter detailing how the experience will apply to the student's career plan.
  3. A letter from the participation station accepting the student as an intern.
  4. A resume.
Application and supporting documents must be received by the MBA no later than June 1st for fall internships, October 15th for spring internships and March 1st for summer internships.
