On-Air Host, KBIA
The Missouri School of Journalism seeks applications for an On-Air Host for KBIA – an Edward R. Murrow national award–winning radio station and a working laboratory for students at the University of Missouri.
KBIA News (91.3 FM) is an award-winning, innovative newsroom located in the university town of Columbia, on the campus of the oldest journalism school in the world, the Missouri School of Journalism. The station serves a 70-mile listening area, which includes more than 40,000 listeners in 14 counties.
Responsibilities include hosting KBIA radio programs, recording and editing audio for on-air features, producing on-air promotional materials, recording overnight underwriting, training student announcers, and staffing fund drives. A significant portion of this role includes working with student newscast anchors. This primarily concerns checking the technical aspects of some tasks that student newscasters perform. On-air announcers are asked to review and verify that the student’s files are in the correct format, are the correct length and bear the correct name after they are sent into the automation system (AudioVault). This can involve giving the student direction on how to correct problems if they are discovered. Feedback on non- editorial, technical details such as the correct pronunciation of place names or of public officials can also be given.
Monday-Friday, 8 am to 5 pm with some nights and weekends Preferred Qualifications
Public media on-air experience, air check is required, and expereince with on-air fundraising is desireable. Application Materials

A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
